Hi, huskies can and do love swimming, but it is very necessary to teach them where they can get in and out of the pool a lot of drownings happen to dogs that aren't trained properly as they get tired ... swim with them in the beginning hold them in the pool, just like you'd teach a child to swim and call them where they can climb out always praise them and give them a little treat if they do it well...

One thing with huskies they are beautiful, wonderful dogs but do require a lot of attention and stimulation, make sure you have the time for this and them otherwise it can end up very sad for both human and husky.

Here's a link to a site with more information

Hope this helps with your choice of dog that you would like to own remember to always be a pet lover and not just a pet owner  If you want any other information you are more than welcome to ask :)

if you want a water dog, a labrador would be your best bet! they also are great around kids because they have a high tolerance for pain (pulling on tails, ears etc., you know), and are very easy to come by in animal shelters!

they are beautiful...but need a lot more socialization, compared to labs. and actually, from what i hear, it is somewhat difficult to get a husky (or similar) into swimming. most are afraid of water. can't remember where i read that, though...

Well i want a pretty pup that likes to swim with me...my Chi- doesnt like the water so she lays on the steps of the pool whn its hot...lol....

but labs are so basic looking...their either blond black or brown....i like intersiting things...im a strange person. so i need strange animal conpanion.

they aren't basic if you love them enough...i have a three-legged black lab who has the most beautiful jet black coat...just because they're a certain breed doesn't mean they have to be as simple as a color :) my dog has overcome a lot and is a true inspiration for me. i'm sure you could find a nice looking mutt with perky erect ears...i'd just stay away from huskies unless you're determined to spend time with them and exercise them daily...and deal with all that shedding...ehh i couldn't handle it! lol. they're beautiful dogs but not my favorite breed. they're not for the weakhearted ;) good luck in your search, though!

AWWWWW x3 Huskies are good little swimmers with their webbed paws. They remind me of bears in the water for some reason O_o

Adorable! My shepherd loves the water, too. She'd stay in the pool all year round if she could.
